Notes

In 1860, John Gibbard, ‚Äúcabinetmaker, upholsterer, undertaker and manufacturer of sashes, doors, house mouldings, flooring” leased a mill on the canal. The factory suffered three fires in 1864, 1874 and 1892. Following the 1892 fire, the Gibbard Furniture Company was organized. Sadly, this Canadian furniture icon is scheduled for closure in 2009, however they are being turned into luxury condos being known as Gibard District.

Grace United Church

Notes

The church built in a Gothic Revival style features a tall graceful spire visible from many locations in town. It features lancet windows, hood molds over windows, buttresses and a steeply pitched roof.
